Sligo Cathedral


Described as a "Poem in Stone" and cherished by Sligo people.
This Roman Catholic Cathedral erected in 1874 by the then
Bishop of Elphin Most Rev. Dr. Gillooley, to the design of
George Goldie, London, one of the most prominent architects of
the last century.
Sligo Cathedral is considered by many to be his masterpiece.

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is in
the Romanesque style and has seating for 4,000 people.
It's exterior beauty is reflected by the magnificence of it's interior.
