Ballintogher - the Town of the causeway - is situated on the Dromahair/Collooney (R290) road.

Owing to its location at the pass between Tireill and Carbury, in previous centuries, Ballintogher had a considerable strategic military importance.

The area was held in turn by various tribes, armies and power-crazed characters and was not a place one would expect a quiet life!

Today, Ballintogher is a quiet, scenic and friendly village, a short pleasant drive from all major Towns in the Region - a fact not gone unnoticed by those seeking to escape the urban sprawl!
